Job Description

The Clubs Director will work with student clubs/organizations/groups of the UofT Scarborough campus to articulate an opportunity to submit artistic projects in ARTSIDEOUT. In ARTSIDEOUT 2018, the Clubs Director also has a curatorial role. Working closely with the Artistic Director, they will either select from submissions, or create proposals of artworks that specific clubs or campus groups could execute. The Clubs Director will need to possess strong leadership skills, but work in the understanding that ARTSIDEOUT and the club bodies are equal beneficiaries of each other. The role also requires strong communication skills, to build and continue positive relationships between the event and other student clubs.



  • Act as the point of contact for clubs, on-campus groups and departments;
  • Prepare a critical timeline in the first months of the work contract, outlining tasks, events, and deadlines pertaining to the Clubs Director role;
  • Develop an outreach plan for recruitment and participation with clubs toolkit to create special project initiatives or creative exhibitions for ARTSIDEOUT;
  • Develop and maintain positive communication with clubs and campus groups throughout the planning process; Responsibility will include frequently checking and responding to Clubs emails;
  • Ensure all clubs submissions are received by the Artistic Director, and the artistic staffs to consider logistics regarding the projects;
  • Work with Logistics Coordinators to ensure feasibility for the creation and completion of clubs projects;
  • Develop and maintain the clubs budget, reporting expenses to the Financial Officer;
  • Attend Executive Team meetings and provide timely reports/updates to the Executive Team regarding club participation and communication;
  • Deliver a detailed final report outlining quantitative and qualitative data pertaining to your role in ARTSIDEOUT



  • Strong communication, organizational, and note-taking skills are required
  • Time-management abilities and an independent work ethic are important in the success of this role
  • Experience in event planning and/or organization is an asset, but not required
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as work with others in a team-based setting
  • Demonstrated strong interest/eagerness to work with people from various walks of life, and learn about Scarborough’s rich and diverse arts and culture scene


Working Conditions

  • Work contract: February 2018 to end of October 2018
  • February to August will consist of monthly team meetings and socials; September will consist of weekly meetings up to the day of ARTSIDEOUT; Additional meetings with other departments and Artistic Director
  • Expected to attend executive workshops including, but not limited to: Financial Literacy, Intro to Google Accounts, Anti-Oppression Workshops
  • Expected to attend at least 3 Outreach events throughout the year
  • Work-from-home with hours between 4-5 hours/week
  • Availability during summer months is highly important
  • Flexible availability during September to the day of the festival is mandatory
