Position: Digital and Social Media Coordinator

Job Description

The Digital and Social Media Coordinator implements an effective social media marketing strategy to engage UofT students and the community in the current work and projects of ARTSIDEOUT as well as of the neighbouring artistic community (e.g. cross-promotions for established partners). They will work closely with the Communications Director in establishing and maintaining a strong social media presence, ensuring that the Mission, Vision, Values and the 2018 Theme of ARTSIDEOUT is well-represented across public relations.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Marketing Directors to ensure the continued presence of ARTSIDEOUT on all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, blogs, etc.);
  • Continually update ARTSIDEOUT’s social media platforms to reflect current programming, and artistic and volunteer requests (call for volunteer and submissions), keeping consistent with the ARTSIDEOUT branding;
  • Assess ARTSIDEOUT’s social media presence by performing minimal research to analyze marketing trends and checking qualitative performance; making recommendations and changes to further engage with social media initiatives;
  • Use ARTSIDEOUT’s social media platforms to interact with the public, artists, and other relevant organizations, in a way that aligns with ARTSIDEOUT’s mission and values;
  • Prepare a critical timeline in the first months of the work contract, outlining tasks, events, and deadlines pertaining to the Digital and Social Media Coordinator role;
  • Collaborate and report to the General Manager and Artistic Director to ensure the theme, vision, mission, and values of the festival are well represented;
  • Collaborate closely with the Outreach Team and Clubs Director in delivering an effective marketing strategy for outreach and partnership projects throughout the year;
  • Work with current community partners on cross promotion;
  • Present at all events hosted by ARTSIDEOUT, or events in which executive members participate in to ensure social media platforms reflect the current activity of ARTSIDEOUT and its members;
  • Assist the Communications Director in delivering monthly newsletters and updating blogs;
  • Assist the Communications director to plan and execute the VIP event;
  • Attend Executive Committee meetings and provide timely reports/updates to the Executive Committee regarding social media updates;
  • Deliver a detailed final report after the event, outlining quantitative and qualitative data pertaining to the process of maintaining and updating social media platforms.

 

Qualifications

  • Strong time-management, communication, and organizational skills are highly important
  • Experience in communications or delivering marketing campaigns is a very strong asset
  • Must have strong oral and written skills
  • Must be strongly familiar with social media applications (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram), as well as social media tools (e.g. Hootsuite)
  • Familiarity with web development platforms (i.e. Wordpress) is a strong asset
  • Able to work with critical deadlines, must be able to manage a number of different projects at the same time
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as work with others in a team-based setting
  • Demonstrated strong interest/eagerness to work with people from various walks of life, and learn about Scarborough’s rich and diverse arts and culture scene
  • Experience in event planning and/or organization is an asset, but not required

 

Working Conditions

  • Work contract: February 2018 to end of October 2018
  • February to August will consist of monthly team meetings and socials; September will consist of weekly meetings up to the day of ARTSIDEOUT; Additional meetings with other departments and General Manager
  • Expected to attend executive workshops including, but not limited to: Financial Literacy, Intro to Google Accounts, Anti-Oppression Workshops
  • Expected to attend at least 3 Outreach events throughout the year
  • Work-from-home with hours between 4-5 hours/week
  • Availability during summer months is highly important
  • Flexible availability during September to the day of the festival is mandatory
