Position: Web Developer

Job Description

The Web Developer is responsible for designing, coding and modifying the ARTSIDEOUT website. They must work very closely with the General Manager in ensuring the website design and functions are user-friendly, abide with the AODA specifications, and reflect the 2018 Theme.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Marketing Directors to ensure the the website reflects current programming, and artistic/volunteer requests, keeping consistent with the ARTSIDEOUT branding;
  • Perform minimal research to analyze marketing trends and checking qualitative performance; making recommendations and changes to further engage with social media initiatives;
  • Prepare a critical timeline in the first months of the work contract, outlining tasks, events, and deadlines pertaining to the Web Developer role;
  • Collaborate and report to the General Manager and Artistic Director to ensure the theme, vision, mission, and values of the festival are well represented;
  • Collaborate closely with the Outreach and Marketing Teams to ensure visibility of projects with community partners is well advertised on the website;
  • Assist the Communications Director in delivering monthly newsletters and updating blogs;
  • Work with the Branding Team in designing and maintaining the website;
  • Attend Executive Committee meetings and provide timely reports/updates to the Executive Committee regarding website development updates;
  • Deliver a detailed final report after the event, outlining quantitative and qualitative data pertaining to the process of maintaining and updating social media platforms.

 

Qualifications

  • Strong time-management, communication, and organizational skills are highly important
  • Familiarity with social media applications (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram), as well as social media tools (e.g. Hootsuite) is an asset
  • Deep expertise and hands on experience with programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery and API’s; and web development applications (i.e. WordPress)
  • Able to work with critical deadlines, must be able to manage a number of different projects at the same time
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as work with others in a team-based setting
  • Demonstrated strong interest/eagerness to work with people from various walks of life, and learn about Scarborough’s rich and diverse arts and culture scene

 

Working Conditions

  • Work contract: February 2018 to end of October 2018
  • February to August will consist of monthly team meetings and socials; September will consist of weekly meetings up to the day of ARTSIDEOUT; Additional meetings with other departments and General Manager
  • Expected to attend executive workshops including, but not limited to: Financial Literacy, Intro to Google Accounts, Anti-Oppression Workshops
  • Expected to attend at least 3 Outreach events throughout the year
  • Work-from-home with hours between 4-5 hours/week
  • Availability during summer months is highly important
  • Flexible availability during September to the day of the festival is mandatory
