Experiment with Flag Book Structure - Big River Bindery

Come experiment with the flag book structure, both a book form and a performance. These books weave together sheets of paper, or flags, with an accordion spine to make a book that shakes, shimmies, and opens with a distinctive flapping sound, making a tapestry of images. Each student will leave with their own finished flag book.

All essential materials and tools provided. This book structure is open to all levels of experience.

Linoleum Block Printing - Lynenick Art

A small workshop for linoleum block printing, including a bit of theory of the medium and hand carving techniques, with a focus on application for handmade products and branding for small businesses. This medium can be approached as a highly experimental art form or it can be a handy tool for starting a new business at home (e.g. to create labels, stamp your logo, decorate packaging, etc.). It can also be a tool for creating your own patterned clothes or accessories, print your own wrapping paper or add a little pizzazz to a heartfelt letter for a loved one. In this workshop, I would aim to create a maximum of one 3” stamp per person, and explore a wide range of applications.
